Mrs. Bush needed more space as the school expanded, so she rented property on 36th avenue from Lakeside–where our campus currently resides. Per the rental agreement, all new grades would have to be girls-only as not to compete with Lakeside, an all-boys school at the time. This created a coed Lower School, grades K-6, and an all-girls Upper School, grades 7-12.

The school was formally named The Helen Bush-Parkside School. Parkside was the Lower School and The Helen Bush School was the Upper School.
